Energy Efficiency and ENERGY STAR®

In addition to providing testing and certification to ENERGY STAR®, UL also provides a complete set of services for lighting energy efficiency programs worldwide.

moreENERGY STAR®

ENERGY STAR® is a voluntary labeling program jointly administered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Launched in 1992 to help consumers identify products which are more energy efficient. ENERGY STAR® continues to evolve its requirements. UL is your full service ENERGY STAR® partner. We're an EPA-Recognized Laboratory (RL) and Certification Body(CB) with labs around the world to meet all of your product qualification needs.

Lighting Facts Label Program (U.S. DOE – Department of Energy)

The Lighting Facts Label provides lighting products with a visual representation of their overall energy efficiency including: Light Output, Watts, Efficacy, CRI and CCT.

Testing must be done at laboratories that meet U.S. DOE requirements and manufacturers must take the Lighting Facts Pledge to use the label. UL labs carry the appropriate lab accreditations for the Lighting Facts program.

DesignLights™ Consortium Program (DLC)

When a lighting product is tested and accepted to the DesignlightsTM Consortium (DLC) Qualified Products List, incentives are provided for these high-performing LED products. The DLC program intends to ensure that only high-quality, high-performance, tested and verified LED products will be eligible for rebates participating programs.

Testing must be done at laboratories that meet DLC requirements. UL labs carry the appropriate lab accreditations for the DLC program.
